If you're here I assume you're an ADHD writer looking for sounds that help you stay on track and FOCUSED while writing. Fear not, I got your back. Below you will find some of my favorite sounds/videos/playlists that I used while writing TWO BOOKS.
Please know that your brain is SO UNIQUE AND SO LOVELY. I love how your brain works, I love your neurodiversity and there is room in the publishing world for your neurodiversity. I know it can be overwhelming and daunting, but I am in your corner.
FIRST: Up first we have this lovely video from the lovely Abbie Emmons. This video is excellent for ADHD writers as it utilizes calming relaxing sounds. It's also a writing sprint video, meaning it has built-in breaks. As an ADHD writer you will likely end up hyper-fixating while writing, and that's not a bad thing but a quick break is so helpful in allowing you to care for yourself physically (i.e. eating lunch and using the bathroom haha).
SECOND: Brown noise brought to you by Jason Lewis - Mind Amend. You will either love this one, or hate it. I personally LOVE it. It helps my mind quiet and allows me to focus. I prefer this sound with headphones and not through my computer speakers.
THIRD: I made this playlist and have no scientific research to back up why it works for my ADHD brain, but it really does. Fun fact, Finding Nemo has some absolute BANGERS to listen to while writing.
FOURTH: To close out, I have one more playlist that I'll often use when writing. This one is curated by Spotify and often changes, but overall, it's pretty solid.
I hope this list of resources helps you write and keeps you inspired to keep pushing even when your brain is working against you. YOU GOT THIS. HAPPY WRITING. HAPPY DREAMING.
